The Source Of Love.
Michael.

* Lesson: 1 John 4:7-21
GOLDEN TEXT-"We love him, because he first loved us" (1 John 4:19).

PRACTICAL POINTS

1. Love cannot be known apart from God, for love comes from Him (1 John 4:7-8).
2. God's love for us obligates us to love others (vss. 9-11).
3. We reveal God to others by our love for one another (vs. 12).
4. The inner testimony of the Holy Spirit and our outward testimony to the truth give us assurance of salvation (vss. 13-15).
5. Since God in His very nature is love, to know Him is to love (vs. 16).
6. Love makes us more like Christ and thus removes fear of judgment (vss. 17-18).
7. If we lack love for people, we lack love for God (vss. 19-21). Amen*********

Down To Earth Again.

Yes Faith, you confrssed the obvious lacks in our love, which was discussed in our sunday school class. We are brought back down to earth in our boastings when we realize just how far apart from what Jesus demonstrated as REAL LOVE. Love makes it all happen for me and for you, and yet you can see the selfishness even in prayer. We are told to pray for one another and all we get is me...me...me...so on & on, and bypass a fellow believer who needs prayer as much as anybody else. I know this will fall on deaf ears, just as it did the Israelites, who frustrated God to no end, but we have to forgive and love to keep our end of the bargain nonetheless. Amen.

Lord You have been on and on about love these last few days, in church,on this site,in other sermons on the internet, there must be a reason for You to be so concerned about this.So Father we humble ourselves we are not practising true love, the kind that is longsuffering,sees good in others,forgiving(and forgetting),putting others first,having empathy for other's sufferings,the kind that loves to hug and make up in sincerity.Lord we need this kind of love,because we live in a world that teaches survival of the fittest,so we need to look out for each other and prove the world wrong.Let us look at small things and see You at work,a greeting on this site,a word of encouragement from a stranger,a smile from our neighbours as we pass each other and a genuine compliment from a friend.This love when it is operating makes excuses for hurts and misunderstandings and forgives even when no forgiveness was sought.This love makes us sensitive to each other's hurts even when miles apart.This love made You go through pain and suffering so that we may overcome.Lord we need this kind of love, it is the springboard from where the gifts of the Holy Spirit operate.This love changes hearts at war and bitterness to healing and peace.Lord we need this kind of love we stand convicted, we stand in repentance we have not always practised it, we got caught up in the race to get this and that.Forgive us Father we pray in Jesus Name.Amen.
